I am a native Northwestern Vermonter. I have spent my life raising my five sons as a single mother and working as much as I could to make it all work.
I know what it is like to struggle financially and wonder how there can be so much month left after the bills are paid with nothing left. I've been fortunate in that we made it to a place where we have some resources, but the current economy has steadily clawed that back with constant and unending tax and rate increases, additional charges, fuel costs and the ever increasing cost of groceries.
We need to do better. I can't sit back and just let it happen without standing up and fighting for what we need.
I've had a varied work life and that has given me a glimpse into industries such as technology, healthcare, mental health, nonprofit, childcare, small business, education, real estate and municipal government. I can see things from multiple perspectives, because I've been in roles that have given me that insight.
Someone recently asked me if there was ever a time when I only did one thing and the answer is never! I've always had a lot going on and that meant I have been able to accomplish a lot. I'm interested in the world around me and how it operates and that often leads me to spend time doing a deep dive to find out more.
When I moved back to Franklin County five years ago, I immediately saw that there was a need for my skills in supporting our local government. I was elected as a Justice of the Peace and became very involved in town elections. Then there was an opportunity to serve as Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Swanton and I happily filled that role.
Now I have this incredible opportunity to serve both Swanton and Sheldon as a Representative for Franklin 4. I am extremely excited to have the chance to be where my wide range of knowledge, education and ability can have a significant impact on our community.
